BOMESI Accelerator Cohort 4 Upfront

|

In midtown New York City, the BOMESI 2025 Accelerator Cohort 4 Upfront was a success. The accelerator’s core mission is to increase the number of diverse and Black-owned media companies to secure business from the nation’s top advertisers

The program focuses on three key areas:

  • Infrastructure: building a strong business foundation
  • Ecosystem building: fostering connections and community
  • Audience development: Growing and engaging their audience

Liane Agbi (from Cohort 1) reminded us, “Don\’t be afraid to lean on each other when going through this transformational part.”

Throughout the program, participants did just that. They leaned on their mentors and peers, exchanging both challenges and victories. This collaboration spirit highlighted how mutual support makes the journey of transformation not only more manageable but also more meaningful.

The event kicked off with opening remarks from Brandon Delesline the Group Account Director and Brand & Client Partnerships Lead at PMM Agency. He was followed by a series of partners and BOMESI representatives, including:

  • Brianne Boles Marshall, Media Lead for General Motors (GM)
  • Jo Lewis, Responsible Media Planner for GM
  • Rhonesha Byng, Co-Founder of BOMESI, and Founder & CEO of Her Agenda
  • DéVon Christopher Johnson, Co-Founder of BOMESI, and Founder & CEO of BleuLife Media Group

Following the initial remarks was a Q&A section where alumni from previous accelerator programs provided insights into their experience with the accelerator and how the program has helped them thus far.

Jermaine Hall’s words beautifully captured the essence of a supportive and collaborative environment, one that is perfected mirrored by the BOMESI accelerator. The BOMESI program is designed not as a competition, but as a community.

The Cohort 3 alum shared: “The word that comes to mind is cheerleader.” He continues “we were all cheering each other on.”

By joining the BOMESI Accelerator, entrepreneurs are not just gaining access to resources and mentorship, but they are also entering a safe space where mutual support is the guiding principle, ensuring that every member feels empowered and celebrated throughout their journey.

Following a delicious lunch, graduates participated in 1:1 upfront conversations where each of them were partnered up with media buyers where they were able to give mentorship and professional guidance. The event ended with happy hour, where everyone had the opportunity to mingle, connect, and help each other grow.
The next cohort is set to launch in Spring 2026. If this interests you, follow along at accelerator.blackownedmedia.org.
